We are currently seeking a talented individual to become an EVS Shift Manager.  An individual could be successful if they possess the following. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The EVS Shift Manager is responsible for the daily upkeep of the interior and exterior of Oaklawn Racing Casino Resort while upholding Oaklawn's Core Values. Always presents a friendly and professional image at Oaklawn Racing Casino Resort.  The following and other duties may be assigned as necessary: • Manage staff to determine the most effective and efficient workloads and follow up to ensure satisfactory completion through proper inspections. • Responsible for the operation of the casino housekeeping department, successful performance of team members, and a favorable guest experience. • Responsible for hiring, training, counseling and disciplining team members as needed • Responsible for effectively managing, delegating duties, and the performance and development of department staff; inclusive of interviewing, hiring, training, evaluating, coaching, and termination of staff. • Responsible for disposal of trash, waste, and other disposable materials • Report any needed repairs immediately (such as leaky faucets or toilets, loose tile, broken window panes, missing nuts or screws, etc.) • Wash windows and doors as scheduled • Remain current on all training required within the department and the casino • Provide exceptional guest service for all external and internal guests. • Provide accurate and concise verbal and written reports to management staff as required. • Promote, enforce, and execute a safety-oriented work environment ensuring all company policies and procedures are implemented and followed properly. • Operates various mechanized cleaning equipment, such as vacuums, polishers, buffers, etc. • Must handle various cleaning solvents, chemicals, etc • Must comply with all regulations such as OSHA, EPA • Manage and supervise department team members and schedules • Maintains departmental budget and obtains approval for purchases • Maintain SDS documentation and actively train staff on all chemicals and products used. • Maintain facility in a sanitary and infection-free condition • Maintain clean sanitary restrooms throughout the facilities • Maintain a pleasant and professional attitude • Ensures Oaklawn quality guest experience and cheerful atmosphere is maintained • Ensure payroll is completed in a timely manner • Empty trash containers and ashtrays regularly • Educate and enforce safe cleaning methods and techniques with an emphasis on biohazard protection, blood borne pathogens and infectious disease hazards, and hazardous chemical handling. • Dust Machines, light fixtures, window sills, etc • Consistently monitor and push in chairs throughout the casino • Check entire facility for spills, water, etc • Follows Purchasing/PO policies and procedures QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS   • Must have strong work ethics • Ability to meet strict deadlines • Ability to lead by example and direct team in a positive, professional manner • Must be well organized and a self-starter, highly flexible and comfortable in a constantly changing environment • Detail oriented, professional attitude, reliable • Possess strong organizational and time management skills • Ability to handle several projects and tasks at the same time • Ability to maintain a calm, professional and friendly demeanor in all situations • Ability to provide sound and measurable backup to support any/all recommendations for change • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing • Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and high volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness • Highly organized and detail oriented with excellent time management skills and detailed follow-up • 3+ years professional housekeeping experience in hospitality, casino or related field • 2+ years supervisory/manager experience • Experience with various cleaning chemicals, tools and machinery • Experience with OSHA and SDS regulations SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES                                                      This job may or may not have supervisory responsibilities. • Responsible for staff development and training programs. • Responsible for rewards and recognition program to maximize employee engagement. • Evaluates team members within department and delivers constructive feedback to employees in regards to performance. • Provides recommendation for staffing (including interviewing and hiring) and scheduling (planning, assigning and directing work) to meet business needs. • Manages work procedures and expedites workflow. • Provides recommendation for employee performance (disciplining, coaching, and counseling). LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents in English, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to read and communicate verbally in English. Written communication skills in in English may also be required. REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Employee must be able to qualify for licenses and permits required by federal, state and local regulations. PHYSICAL DEMANDS   The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and must have the ability to stand, climb, push, pull, reach, bend, twist, stoop, stack, crouch, kneel and balance when performing job duties in varying work areas such as confined spaces. WORK ENVIRONMENT The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Employee could be exposed to an environment containing unrestricted second-hand tobacco smoke.  The employee will be subjected to varied light levels and excessive noise.
