Manager Regional Commercial Real Estate Underwriting

Overview This is remote role and could be hired in NC, FL, SC.    The Manager Regional Commercial Real Estate Underwriting is responsible for the oversight and management of associates and activities related to a Commercial Underwriting team. Primary responsibilities include management of people, processes, performance, and credit related projects. Responsible for identification, development, and retention of solid underwriting talent, and works with Senior Management as needed on talent management initiatives. Strategically reviews and analyzes processes to assist Senior Management to optimize production activities and ensure quality of team efforts. Recommends adjustments to processes, procedures, tolls, and potential policy changes as appropriate to achieve business goals. Monitors individual and team performance, and seeks opportunities for continuous improvement. Provides expertise to the team in underwriting, servicing, and other activities that support Commercial Lending. Assists Senior Leadership with risk identification and mitigation, and recommends appropriate enhancements to portfolio management and monitoring practices as needed. Responsibilities & Qualifications Duties & Responsibilities: • Managerial Functions - Manages a team that underwrites, structures, and services commercial credit actions. Establishes and monitors expectations to achieve company and department goals. Recommends and implements appropriate changes to team processes, procedures, and efficiencies in order to meet objectives. Manages the performance, training, and evaluation of assigned staff. Supports associate development through formative feedback. • Business Strategy - Demonstrates commitment to building a diverse, inclusive, and civil work environment by assisting talent management strategies. Continuously evaluates and adjusts to ensure effective use of talent, technology, and resources within assigned team. Recommends procedure and standards updates as identified. • Quality Control - Ensures team compliance with department procedures, standards, and quality production needs. Monitors performance metrics, communicating results as necessary to senior leadership, and implements methods to improve performance. • Relationship Development - Develops and maintains strong relationships with Bank leadership, peers, and lenders. Works closely with team to develop behaviors that improve service and business decisions. Offers guidance on creating strong lending relationships and on methods that improve customer experience. Position Specific Skills: Advanced skillset for commercial credit underwriting inclusive of complex credit structures and potentially specific industries Leadership Partnership Qualifications: Minimum Required Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree and 8 years' experience OR High School Diploma or GED/Equivalent and 12 years' experience in Commercial Lending or Credit Analysis and supervisory Preferred Qualifications: • Advanced skillset for commercial real estate credit underwriting inclusive of complex credit structures and potentially specific industries, leadership, partnership. • Experience managing others  • Microsoft Excel competency required • Strong written and verbal communication skills required • Experience working with credit exposure 5 million and above preferred   Additional Information Benefits are an integral part of total rewards and First Citizens Bank is committed to providing a competitive, thoughtfully designed and quality benefits program to meet the needs of our associates.
