description grade control technician job description who we are andean is a fast-growing precious metals producer operating across top-tier jurisdictions in the americas. with two cornerstone assets — the san bartolomé processing facility in potosí, bolivia, and the soledad mountain project in kern county, california — we are expanding our footprint and shaping the future of responsible mining. through golden queen mining co., llc, we operate a modern gold and silver open-pit, heap-leach mine just outside mojave. the site uses conventional open-pit mining, cyanide heap leaching, and merrill-crowe processing to recover gold and silver from crushed and agglomerated ore. this is mining at scale, powered by innovation, discipline, and a commitment to doing things the right way. at andean, our people are our most valuable resource and critical to our success. our culture fosters inclusion, collaboration, and rewards success, positioning us to be the employer of choice in the communities where we operate. who you are you enjoy working outdoors in all types of weather. you are attentive to detail and able to work with data. you are a quick learner. you have strong computer skills and can easily learn new computer software. you communicate effectively and thrive in an environment where you coordinate team efforts to meet company goals. the position is responsible for carrying out assigned sampling and field activities in accordance with established procedures and supervisor instructions. this is a safety sensitive position. as the grade control technician, you report to the ore control geologist. what you do collect representative blasthole samples from active drill patterns in accordance with established sampling procedures. collect samples from mining faces, stockpiles, and other designated locations as directed by the supervisor. ensure proper sample collection, labeling, handling, documentation, and timely delivery to the laboratory. collect field duplicates and other qa/qc samples in accordance with established protocols. maintain accurate sampling records, including blasthole information, sample submissions, and related field observations. identify and report sampling irregularities, potential contamination, and other issues affecting sample quality. maintain sampling equipment, tools, and supplies in clean and serviceable condition. assist geologists with pit-wall and blast pattern mapping and other geological field activities as needed. support assay tracking, data entry, and maintenance of geological and grade-control records. assist with monitoring active mining faces and ore/waste boundaries under the direction of geologists. coordinate sampling activities with drilling crews, mine operations, survey, and laboratory personnel. follow company health, safety, and environmental procedures and applicable regulatory requirements. perform other duties as assigned. what you bring · self-motivated · effective communication skills. · able to communicate clearly and concisely when presenting information. · quick learner. · solid team member. · eager to drive projects forward. · able to work with minimal supervision. · ability to regularly lift, carry, load, and unload sample bags and containers weighing up to 40 pounds. · maintain high standards and a professional presence. · able to work in adverse weather conditions and rough terrain. · basic computer literacy and data entry skills required. · driver’s license required. what we offer we offer a competitive and comprehensive compensation and benefits package, which includes the following: · 401k with company matching · ppo & hmo health insurance plans · 9 paid holidays · vacation accruals notice to recruitment and/or staffing firms: the company will not pay any fees for recruitment activities related to the hiring of a candidate for any position unless a services agreement has been entered into between the recruitment and/or staffing firm. go to [link in the portal] for information on the company and the project.
