About the Job MedStar Union Memorial Hospital Assistant Director of Nursing – Cardiovascular IMC & Cardiovascular ICU CVICU/ CVSD Experience Strongly Preferred   Join the nursing leadership team at MedStar Union Memorial Hospital as the Assistant Director of Nursing for our Cardiovascular Intermediate Care (CVIMC) and Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU). In this leadership role, you'll partner with an experienced team to support daily operations, mentor and develop nursing staff, and help drive exceptional patient care across two specialized cardiovascular units. This position is ideal for an experienced Registered Nurse who is ready to take the next step into leadership. Whether you've served as a charge nurse, preceptor, or in another leadership capacity, you'll have the opportunity to influence patient outcomes, support staff development, and help shape the future of cardiovascular nursing. This position requires flexibility to work day, evening, and night shift hours as needed.   General Summary of Position   The Assistant Director of Nursing is a member of MedStar Health entity-based Division of Nursing and leadership team. Supports and collaborates with the Director of Nursing in providing leadership and oversight for a specific unit/department. Directs and coordinates the nursing and patient care delivery of the unit-based professional and support personnel. Ensures the provision of holistic, culturally competent, and person-centered, quality, safe, and cost-effective evidence-based nursing care for patients/families. Applies the nursing process within the context of the organization's shared/collaborative decision-making framework. Collaboratively manages the patient's transitions across the continuum of care to assist patients and populations in achieving or maintaining an optimal level of health and functioning. The Assistant Director of Nursing assumes administrative and leadership authority and responsibility during a specific shift (e.g., evening or night) for the assigned unit/department. Fosters associates' commitment to improving quality, safety, and cost-conscious patient care outcomes. Collaborates with the Director of Nursing in maintaining adherence to regulatory and accreditation standards, and MedStar Health's policies and procedures.
